Future perfect thinking

Instead of trying to predict the future, imagine you are in the future and recounting the past from that vantage point.

There is evidence that this method, which exploits our powers of hindsight, provides with a more concrete view of the troubles that lie ahead.

For instance, they applied this method for the organization of the Olympic Games.

Instead of asking “what will happen?” Ask “what will have happened?”
If you ever try this, I’ll be curious to know: Did it work?

Perhaps they write House of Cards this way.
